Barber Intelligence Academy Course Description

Our Mission

It is the mission of Barber Intelligence Academy is to be the best in providing educational knowledge, practical and technical skills and services in a timely professional manner, in a pleasant atmosphere and at a reasonable cost to our students. We continually strive to improve our skills and services to enable our students to qualify for the State barber exam, and to facilitate licensed graduates in successfully obtaining suitable employment in the Barber-Stylist field.

The Barber Intelligence Academy program curriculum consists of 1500 hours to satisfy Arizona State requirements. The course includes extensive instruction and practical experience in cutting, hair coloring, perms, shaving, retailing products, and business ethics. It additionally covers all aspects of Sanitation, Quality customer service, Personal appearance and hygiene, Personal motivation and development, Positive attitude, AZ State Laws and Regulations, Salon administration, Job Interviewing Preparation to successfully pass the Arizona State Board of Barbers examination. Barber Intelligence Academy is designed to prepare the student to pass the Arizona State Board of Barber Licensure Exam and to train and graduate students who are prepared, confident, and excited for an entry-level position to have a successful career within the salon and barbering industry. Additionally, the Barber Intelligence Academy provides training in the area of communication skills which includes professional ethics, salesmanship, decorum, record keeping, and client service record cards. Passing the State Board exam in Arizona is required to obtain a Barber License. This license is a requirement for operating as a barber in the state of Arizona. Approximately 42.86 weeks to complete the program based on hours completed per week. Barbering part-time is 85.72 weeks to complete the program based on hours completed per week.

BIA ADMISSIONS AND ENROLLMENT REQUIREMENTS

You must be at least 16 years of age:

· Complete an application for enrollment.

· Personally interview with a school official

· Provide proof of secondary education such as a high school diploma, a GED certificate, an official transcript showing secondary school completion, or a state certification of home-school completion.

· If you have some training in hair-styling or barbering, “you will need to bring that information with you when you enroll.individual style.

In the absence of the above documentation, the applicant must take and pass an approved ability-to-benefit test administered according to the test publisher’s guidelines by an approved Independent Test Administrator.

STANDARD IV, CRITERION 2 – SECONDARY STUDENT’S POLICY

For those secondary students not enrolled under a training agreement, the applicant must meet the following admission requirements:

· meet the state requirements for admission (complete 10th grade and be 16 years of age)

o proof of completion of 10th grade can be shown through high school transcripts

o proof of age can be shown through a driver’s license, birth certificate, etc.

· provide permission in writing from the secondary school in which they are enrolled

· successfully complete the pre-enrollment evaluatio

BIA TRANSFER POLICY

From Other Institutions:

Transfer students will be enrolled for the full contracted hours of the program. Students will receive credit for previous training from an accredited barber school with proper documentation of hours, services and tests, and after being evaluated in both theoretical and practical abilities by a designated school official. The contracted program will then be modified proportional and the contracted hours and educational costs adjusted on the student’s tuition. The acceptance of any and/or all of the transferring hours and services is at the discretion of Barber Intelligence Academy. An Articulation Agreement form must be completed.

Transfer of Clock Hours and Services to other Institutions:

Barber Intelligence Academy departing to another institution is at the discretion of the accepting institution, and it is the students’ responsibility to confirm whether or not their clock hours and services earned here at the barber shop will be accepted by another institution of the student’s choice. An Articulation Agreement form must be completed.
